In short

Rockstar Games has officially named six regions of the state of Leonida so far: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. All six have been featured in the “Only in Leonida” section of rockstargames.com/VI since the Trailer 2 website update on May 6, 2025. Rockstar has not presented a standalone official map so far, and it has given neither region borders nor a size in square miles or kilometers. Names such as Little Haiti or Starfish Island come from fan speculation and are not confirmed.

Main sourcerockstargames.com/VI – “Only in Leonida” section

Leonida is the fictional state where GTA 6 takes place. Of the many place names floating around, some come from Rockstar, some only flash by in a video and many are pure fan interpretation. This overview lists the places Rockstar Games itself has named, sums up the official descriptions in our own words and labels everything else with its status. For the people behind the places, see our character directory; the official videos are in our trailer section.

The six officially named regions

When Rockstar released Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025, it also greatly expanded the game’s website (Newswire: Watch Trailer 2 Now). Since then, the “Only in Leonida” section has featured six regions, next to profiles of the featured characters. The descriptions below are shortened summaries in our own words:

  • Vice City – the state’s big city. The meta text of the official pages refers to its neon-soaked streets (paraphrased; official Vice City page). Boobie Ike’s official profile casts him as a Vice City figure who went from the streets to running legal businesses – property, a strip club and a recording studio.
  • Leonida Keys – a tropical island chain at the southern tip of the state: small islands strung together by long bridges (official Leonida Keys page). According to his profile, Jason Duval works there for local drug runners, and Brian Heder is described as a classic smuggler from the Keys’ heyday whose career is far from over.
  • Grassrivers – a sprawling wetland of open water and mangroves (official Grassrivers page).
  • Port Gellhorn – a coastal resort town past its prime: closed attractions and run-down malls (official Port Gellhorn page).
  • Ambrosia – a working-class industrial town built around a large sugar refinery (“Only in Leonida” overview).
  • Mount Kalaga National Park – hills, rivers and trails; Rockstar mentions hunting, fishing, kayaking and off-roading (Rockstar’s Leonida overview).

Other official mentions

  • Leonida Penitentiary: Lucia Caminos’s official profile mentions this prison – she ended up there after fighting for her family.
  • Back Country Radio: In its October 8, 2026, Newswire post on the radio stations, Rockstar says this station covers the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn “and beyond” (Newswire). More on the stations is on our music page.
  • Postcards: As far as we can tell, Rockstar’s downloads page offers postcard artwork for Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga, among others, apparently without place descriptions.
  • Leonida map poster: The collector’s box “The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection” in the Rockstar Store includes a double-sided Leonida map poster, per the store description (game sold separately, ships from November 19, 2026).

Named, seen or guessed: three levels

For place names we use three levels; our places directory additionally flags what is only reported by the press:

  • Officially named: Rockstar names the place in writing – on rockstargames.com, in the Newswire or in the Rockstar Store.
  • Seen in official material: A name is visible in a trailer or the Extended Look – on a sign, say. Rockstar has not introduced it as a location.
  • Fan speculation: The name comes from community interpretations or comparisons with earlier GTA games or real places, without official evidence.

Seen in official material

  • Effluvia: According to SVG, the name appears in the Extended Look released on August 27, 2026, as a rooftop bar in Vice City; we have not yet checked this against the video.
  • Kelly County and Hamlet: Press reports read these names from frames of Trailer 1 – Kelly County from a road sign, for example.
  • Bayside (press only): GamesRadar’s live coverage of the Extended Look names Bayside as a spot for side activities. Whether the name is visible in the video or used by Rockstar in writing is not confirmed.
  • Other settings: The press also mentions the main characters’ homes, a corporate headquarters and wetlands from the Extended Look, none assigned to a region.

Fan speculation

Names like Little Haiti, La Perle, Washington Beach, Leaf Links, Starfish Island or a “Vice City International Airport” mostly come from comparisons with 2002’s GTA Vice City or from interpretations of murals and signs. Rockstar has not named any of them as a location, even if some fan sites list them as “confirmed.” Guides are inconsistent about Stockyard; we have not found an official mention. The popular real-world comparisons – the Florida Keys, the Everglades, Panama City, north Florida and Georgia – are press and fan interpretations, not statements from Rockstar.

Is there an official map?

Not as a standalone release. As of October 14, 2026, Rockstar has not officially presented a map of Leonida or given a size in square miles or kilometers. A Leonida map has so far only been announced as a poster in the Vice City Collection, which ships from November 19, 2026. Rockstar has not officially presented the artwork; whether it shows borders or district names is unknown. Nor did the fly-by video of Vice City, which Rockstar added to its website in June 2026 according to GamesRadar and PC Games, add any new place names.

On size, there are only press reports. Coverage such as GamesRadar’s live blog from August 27, 2026, relays comparisons partly based on Rockstar’s preview presentations: Leonida is said to be about twice the size of the GTA V map, Vice City roughly twice the size of Los Santos. Square-mile or square-kilometer figures online are fan estimates.

What circulates as the “GTA 6 map” are fan reconstructions built from trailer frames and real-world street imagery. They are not official – locations, names and sizes are unconfirmed – and some draw on material Rockstar never released; we do not use any of it. Our places directory lists every location with source, status and check date.

What is not confirmed

  • The exact wording of the six region descriptions; some details still need checking against the originals.
  • Vice City districts: according to guide sites such as MMO Culture, the official Vice City page also mentions Ocean Beach, Little Cuba and a port – not yet confirmed against the original.
  • Rockstar has not published the exact location or borders of the regions; locations given online come from fan reconstructions, which we do not use.
  • Business names, such as the operator of Ambrosia’s sugar refinery or club and label names from the character profiles, circulate in guides but are unverified.
  • Whether Rockstar names Extended Look locations such as Effluvia or Bayside anywhere in writing.
  • Whether the Vice City Collection map artwork includes region borders or district names.
  • New place names in LOVE Magazine (Issue 27, released October 5, 2026, and quickly sold out, according to press reports) or in a Game Informer feature on Leonida: previews of the magazine mention none; we have not reviewed either full text.
